Why take them...

Vitamin A is a very important vitamin for women and one that should  be regularly taken for numerous reasons, under doctor supervision of course.  Here are some reasons why Vitamin A is important for women!

Vitamin A (retinol) helps the body’s natural defenses (immune system) protect against infections and illnesses.

Vitamin A is important for vision in dim lighting and also helps to maintain the skin and other parts of the body like the heart and lungs.

It is also involved with immune function, growth, development, male reproduction, female reproduction, and cellular communication.

Pregnant women should avoid vitamin A supplementation (unless recommended by a physician) as large amounts of vitamin A can hurt an unborn baby.

Vitamin A deficiency is rare in the United States; however, some populations like people with cystic fibrosis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis are more at risk of developing vitamin A deficiency.

The recommended daily amount of vitamin A supplementation for adults 19-64 is 700 micrograms for men and 600 micrograms for women.

Taking too much vitamin A increases the risk for bone fractures as you get older. It can also cause dizziness, nausea, headaches, and liver damage.
